The Body Completes the Artwork

The Body Completes the Artwork was a participatory practice led workshop led by Aid & Abet artists Sarah Evans and David Kefford.

Through the processes of sand casting of natural objects or shapes made by hands and working with raw clay participants will create small scale sculptures that will fit, complement or extend from the body through the action of holding.

Participants were asked to explore the materiality of clay, sand and plaster, considering how touch can inform the making of the work, and how we can think through the process of making and working intuitively with materials.

The workshop resulted in a series of photographs that explore both the process of making and the relationship of sculpture to the hand.
